O: I may have spoken too soon regarding the paneling for ISSUE 3, I’ve decided to go back and change a decent chunk of the pages. Not entirely because of content, but due to pacing. The tricky part with creating the pages for JSRX is keeping in mind the pages are going to be read both side-by-side and vertically. The printed version is left-bound like any other comic book, while the digital version is meant to be scrolled through. This means while some pages can’t have repeating panel patterns/angles due to being printed next to one another, I also have to be mindful not to repeat the beginning/ending panel’s layout/angle due to being formatted atop one another for the digital version. It’s all very precarious. Little things like the space between actions and the layouts themselves were a little confusing to follow, so I’m working on rectifying that.
While the first portion of the comic is going to remain the same, I have been experimenting with switching up the order of events. ISSUE 3 was originally going to introduce another storyline and continue through Clutch’s perspective. However, the section for Clutch’s perspective is fairly long and takes the ISSUE to about 30+ pages in total. I might substitute the second portion with a continuation of Beat and Gum’s perspectives. It would make more sense to have the storylines spread out a little bit more, and would help keep the Doom Rider’s portion in recent memory.
To be frank, a portion of this also has to do with length. I would like to get the next ISSSUE out in a timely manner, and having a 30+ page ISSUE would create a dense gap in productivity. It remains undecided for the time being. I’ll write the replacement portion first and see what works from there.
L: some character designs and the cover page are also bein worked on atm. i’m not too sure if i’ll keep the current cover, it’s a lil more abstract in location in comparison to iSSUE’S 1 and 2 :^/

(if Otis changes the order of ISSUES, then this puppy will be used later >:^)
ngl i’ve been getting the slightest bit of backlash for some of my design choices. i ain’t complainin tho, cuz most of people’s responses have been overwhelmingly positive. i only worry the more characters i introduce, the more people are gonna get turned away by their designs? some people reaally dislike DJ K, which is a lil funny to me; given he’s the one design that’s the closest to his in-game counterpart so far lmaoo (it’s definitely the crutches that are pissin’ people off). meh, i don’t wanna appeal to boring people anyways, so i’d rather it be this way :^)

sometimes i worry that i develop a particular blindness towards my art; i start to not notice when things look off or designs are too wacky. i’ve been tryin to keep that in check as best i can, but it is difficult. it’s whatever, i think now that i’m a lil older it’s easier to spot. it’s kinda embarrassing, but i just gotta live with it yknow?
i can already anticipate people getting pissed about Tab’s design (featured above). don’t get me wrong, i don’t want to make people upset, in fact quite the contrary. in JSRX BETA a LOT of the decisions made were to fit the preferences of other people; ergo i really didn’t wanna upset anyone. i’m older now, and i’m trying to do things for myself and what i think looks good/matches my tastes. tbf, i feel as though my design philosophy is skewed to create ‘endearing’ designs rather than ‘conventional’ ones. not that there’s anythin wrong with conventional character designs, it’s just not my focus or area of expertise.
